English bands to join with Belgian and French musicians at The Great Escape Festival
IC Music (International Cooperation Through Music) will present a showcase of the best emerging bands from Southern England, Belgium and Northern France at the UK’s premier festival for up-and-coming talent – The Great Escape Festival, in Brighton from 16-18 May 2013.
The IC Music bands Unno from France, Damerels from Plymouth in the UK, The Black Heart Rebellion from Belgium and Kins from Brighton in the UK, will take to the stage in front of excited audiences and music industry professionals from 12.30pm – 4.00pm on 18th May at The Green Door Store, Trafalgar Arches in Brighton.
The Great Escape Festival (TGE) showcases emerging artists from all over the world and features over 350 up and coming bands playing across 30 venues.
TGE is regarded as the first place to discover new bands and see them in an intimate setting before they make it big; previous artists to appear at the Festival include Adele. A convention runs alongside the gigs featuring insightful panels, topical debates, keynote speeches and networking opportunities in abundance and TGE is attended by the music industry who are on the hunt for next big thing.
The bands who will appear on the big stage are part of IC Music, a cross-border cooperation initiative providing support to musicians who are seeking to make a living from their art. The project helps to promote, enhance and conserve countries’ common heritage and cultural partnerships, including the development of creativity and design, and increasing joint cooperation between media. The initiative also works to strengthen ties between music, and artists, and the communities which they inhabit. Led by Le Grand Mix, IC Music is funded and made possible by the EU Interreg IVa '2 Seas' programme.
The bands will also mix with the cream of the UK and international music industry at a special drinks reception at The Mesmerist, Prince Albert Street in Brighton from 4.30pm – 5.30pm on Saturday 18 May.
Boris Colin, Director of Le Grand Mix from IC Music said: “The cross-border bands from England, Belgium and France in the IC Music initiative have been working together to develop their skills through the learnings gathered in their own countries. Performing at The Great Escape is a fantastic opportunity for these up-and-coming bands to showcase their skills to audiences and music industry professionals and develop working relationships between themselves.”
