UK’s First Ever Nail Art Festival Comes to London
27 June 2013
UK’s first ever Nail Art Festival to take place in London this July
A free two day festival taking place on the 6 and 7 July at the Ilford Exchange Shopping Centre will showcase a weekend of colour, design, textures and bling - giving shoppers and fashionistas alike a chance to experience one of the biggest celebrations of nail art the UK has ever seen.
Having exploded in popularity over the last few years, nail art has become the latest must have fashion accessory and now The Nail Art Festival 2013 will bring leading nail art specialists, usually seen backstage at fashion shows, to inspire London crowds on how to use nail art to make a fashion statement and get ahead in the fashion stakes this Summer. The Festival will see visitors learn from the best in the business and get ‘tips for their tips’ before the trends hit the runway.
A ‘Finishing School’ will also see the experts give live demonstrations on how to create impressive nail designs at home, as well as the do’s and don’ts of nail art maintenance, enabling visitors to get nail art savvy.
Visitors will be encouraged to experiment with colours, shade, textures, embellishments and ornaments whilst exploring intricate designs. They will also get to use the ideas and inspiration from the experts to have their nails transformed, all with the very latest products available.
Festival goers will be able to follow celebrity styles and get an insight into red carpet worthy nails, with work by Marian Newman, the nail stylist behind Lady Gaga, Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman, Sienna Miller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomi Campbell and P Diddy on display at the event.
There will be free talks by leading nail art specialists including trend forecaster Joanna Shiers from Bijoux Editrix talking about this season’s hottest nail art trends, Sam Biddle and Rebecca Orme from Original Sugar showing audiences how they can stay ahead of the trends, Lynda Louise Burrell from Nail Girls showing audiences how to do the basics and for those who are feeling a little more confident, Neringa - nail artist to the stars for Sophy Robson Nails - will give an advanced workshop on how to create some very special nail art.
Due to limited to space at the talks festival organisers are urging people to go the Ilford Exchange Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/exchangeilford to be in with a chance of securing a ticket for the limited sessions.
The Festival will also include a ‘Nail Art Marketplace’ of brightly coloured stalls buzzing with nail technicians, artists and graphic designers including Nail Girls, Sam Biddle, Nails by Mets, Catherine Greenslade and the Ilford Exchange’s very own Defined Beauty, all offering their hints, tips, inspiration and even free treatments.
The art won’t just stop at the fingertips of visitors to the Nail Art Festival 2013 – Pavan, the Guinness World Record Holder for being the fastest Henna artist in her trade - will be offering free workshops and Henna designs for visitors. Pavan has worked with celebrities and recognised names like Selfridges, Harrods, Sky TV and the BBC on various high-profile projects, and is famous for incorporating details like glitter, diamante and even coloured body paint into her fusion of bespoke designs.
Other sessions will include a ‘Nail Art Gallery’, a stunning collection of specially commissioned nail art exhibits and ‘The Sketchbook’, an interactive area of the Festival inviting people to design and submit their dream nail designs; with the winning design then being created by leading nail artist Sophie Harris-Greenslade from The Illustrated Nail, who has worked on nail art for shoots with French Elle, W magazine (with M.I.A.), Stylist Magazine, Instyle, Glamour, i-D and The Guardian.
Leading UK nail artist Sam Biddle said: “Nails provide the perfect canvas for creativity and artistic expression, which is why nail art has become the must have fashion accessory. It can complete a look, but also make a stand alone statement not only on runways but in workplaces, universities, at parties, on holidays and at festivals.
‘”The best thing about nail art is that it can easily be created at home and the Nail Art Festival 2013 will provide the opportunity for nail specialists like myself, to share our tips on how to create the latest fashion forward looks. London is a centre for fashion and creativity and this festival will also explore how far nail art can go - encouraging people to get painting and see how creative they can get!”
The Nail Art Festival 2013 is free to attend, providing a chance for both regular shoppers and fashion followers to get creative and add the perfect finish to their outfits.
