Looking Back At London’s First Nail Art Festival
Last weekend, 6 – 7 July saw the UK's first Nail Art Festival take over London’s Ilford Exchange Shopping Centre. A celebration of the fashion & beauty trend of 2013 and a huge draw for fashionistas across the Capital, Nail Art Festival was the perfect antidote to the nail-biting weekend of British sport, with the Wimbledon finals and all-to-play-for decider of the British Lions Tour (and the TV hogging by the boys).
Hundreds of fashion-savvy visitors, from infants to octogenarians, left the festival with bespoke nail art by leading salons and nail artists, including Neringa of Sophy Robson Nails at Haris Salon – the go-to nail salon for celebrities including Rita Ora, Paloma Faith, Lily Copper (Allen) and Pixie Geldof. Nailsgirls London even created a bespoke ‘Murray manicure’ so festival-goers could cheer Murray on to a Wimbledon victory.
This free event also saw bespoke nail designs created by Marian Newman for Lady Gaga displayed to the public for the very first time alongside other specially commissioned nail-art exhibits. Avant-garde, 3D and photo-real designs showcased the exquisite and innovative artistry of nail design. The festival’s programme of talks and demonstrations by leading celebrity nail stylists ensured visitors left with all the hints, tips and tricks of the best in the business.
Visitors also had chance to design their own dream nail art, with the winning design to be recreated by top nail stylist Sophie Harris-Greenslade of The Illustrated Nail, whilst Pavan, the Guinness World Record Holder as the fastest Henna artist in her trade, wowed the crowds with her fast and intricate handiwork.
